## What it is

Mineral remineralization drops add dissolved minerals—principally magnesium and calcium—back into water that has been demineralized by reverse osmosis or distillation. Reverse-osmosis and desalination treatment can remove roughly 90-99% of naturally occurring minerals, leaving very low-mineral ("soft") water; magnesium and calcium are the two ions that define water "hardness" and that most drinking-water health research has focused on. In the body, magnesium is a cofactor for hundreds of enzymatic reactions and, together with calcium, participates in vascular tone, blood-pressure regulation, and the electrical activity of the heart.

## Its role in longevity

Observational cohort studies and meta-analyses link higher magnesium intake—including magnesium in drinking water—with lower blood pressure and reduced risk of stroke, heart failure, type-2 diabetes, and all-cause mortality, and randomized controlled trials show that magnesium supplementation modestly lowers blood pressure. No study has tested mineral drops themselves; the closest direct human trial is a 2026 double-blind RCT in adults over 50 in which daily calcium/magnesium-rich mineral water cut falls by 82% at six months and improved muscle mass over a year—though it tested bottled mineral water, not drops. Evidence on water hardness is genuinely mixed: several cohort and case-control studies report fewer fatal heart attacks and strokes with harder water, others (for example north-west England) find no association, and heterogeneity is high. Drops also deliver small mineral doses relative to dietary needs. Honest framing: a sensible way to restore minerals stripped by reverse-osmosis filtration, not a demonstrated longevity intervention. This evidence describes magnesium and calcium themselves and drinking-water mineral content in general, not this specific commercial product.
