## Hypothesis

The study aimed to summarize evidence regarding the effects of quercetin supplementation on plasma lipid profiles, blood pressure, and glucose levels in humans.

## Methods

A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials was conducted. MEDLINE, Embase, and Scopus databases were searched from inception to July 2018. A random-effects model was used for data analysis, expressing continuous variables as weighted mean differences (WMDs) and 95%CIs. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses, as well as publication bias analyses, were also performed.

## Results

Seventeen trials with a total of 896 participants were included. Quercetin significantly lowered systolic blood pressure by -3.09 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by -2.86 mmHg. No significant changes were observed in overall lipid profiles or glucose concentrations. However, subgroup analyses showed significant changes in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides in trials with a parallel design where participants consumed quercetin for 8 weeks or more.

## Conclusion

Quercetin intake significantly decreased blood pressure in humans. Additionally, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides levels were significantly changed in participants who consumed quercetin for 8 weeks or more in trials with a parallel design.
