## The question

Can a novel topical antioxidant formulation featuring vitamin C, astaxanthin, and fermented turmeric improve overall skin quality and the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, and hyperpigmentation?

## Hypothesis

Supplementing the skin with this novel topical antioxidant formulation will help neutralize reactive oxygen species and improve overall skin quality, as well as the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, and hyperpigmentation.

## Methods

This was a single-center, prospective, open-label study that evaluated the safety and efficacy of twice-daily application of the test article (Asta C™ Vitamin C Age Defense Serum) in 32 healthy female subjects aged 35-60 with mild to moderate fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation/uneven skin tone for 12 weeks. Subjects included Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI and all skin types (dry, normal, combination, oily), including those with sensitive skin.

## Results

All subjects demonstrated improvement in overall skin quality (face, neck, and chest) by the end of the 12-week study period. One hundred percent of subjects showed improvement in the appearance of fine lines at Week 12.

## Conclusion

The clinical study demonstrates that Asta C™ is safe, well-tolerated, and effective in improving overall skin quality, as well as the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, and hyperpigmentation of the skin.

## Limitations

This was an open-label study, which means participants and researchers knew which treatment was being administered, potentially introducing bias. The study was also single-center and had a relatively small sample size of 32 subjects.
