This systematic review and meta-analysis searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus for randomized-controlled trials. Included studies compared the effect of green tea plus exercise training (EX+GT) versus exercise training alone (EX+P) in overweight or obese participants. Ten randomized trials met the inclusion criteria out of 1,015 retrieved studies.

## Results

EX+GT showed a small and consistent effect on weight (SMD = -0.30), BMI (SMD = -0.33), and fat reduction (SMD = -0.29) compared to EX+P. However, EX+GT had no greater effect on improving lipid profiles, including triglyceride (SMD = -0.92), LDL (SMD = -1.44), HDL (SMD = 0.56), and total cholesterol (SMD = -0.54).

## Conclusion

Green tea may offer a minimal additive benefit to exercise-induced weight loss. However, it does not appear to provide additional benefits for lipid profile improvement when combined with exercise training.
