Inulin, graded Moderate-evidence on Magellan — one of the best-studied prebiotic fibers: reliable for constipation relief, with small (~1 kg) average weight effects and small LDL/triglyceride reductions whose certainty is rated low to very low. Some trials report no benefit, prebiotics have failed to improve irritable bowel syndrome symptoms, and inulin commonly causes gas, bloating and flatulence at higher doses.
