Trials of supplements give a more mixed picture: a meta-analysis of 281 randomized trials found modest improvements in blood pressure, lipids, and glucose markers, but the large COSMOS cocoa-flavanol trial did not reduce total cardiovascular events (only cardiovascular death), and single-compound results are inconsistent. Evidence is strongest for varied, polyphenol-rich dietary patterns; this blend itself has not been tested in human trials.
