These reductions were accompanied by a 0.05 mmol/L elevation of serum magnesium. A dose of 300 mg/d or duration of 1 month was found sufficient to elevate serum magnesium and reduce blood pressure, and serum magnesium was negatively associated with diastolic blood pressure.
