Twenty healthy, active volunteers performed eccentric elbow flexion exercise on their nondominant arm. They were randomized into a percussion massage group (n=10) or a control group (n=10). The percussion group received 5 minutes of massage immediately, 24 hours, and 48 hours post-exercise. Muscle soreness, range of motion, arm circumference, isometric strength, voluntary activation, and resting twitch were measured at baseline, immediately after exercise, and at 24, 48, and 168 hours post-exercise.
